The earliest sparks of serious thinking about science promotion in Iran can be traced back to a symposium titled “Exploring Strategies for Expanding Science in Iran,” during which the idea of establishing the Iranian Association for the Promotion of Science was first proposed. This marked the country’s first formal initiative aimed at popularizing and promoting science.
The Iranian Association for the Promotion of Science is a non-profit organization that officially began its activities on May 5, 2001, focusing on scientific, educational, and research endeavors. Its organizational structure includes a General Assembly, a Board of Directors, and an Auditor, all of whom are elected every three years by the members participating in the annual General Assembly meeting. According to its statutes, the association can establish specialized groups in various fields such as Education, Publishing, Statistics and Data, Admissions and Public Relations, Awards, Conferences, and Research Projects.
